The Friends of the South Berwick Library incorporated in 2005 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, building upon 30 preceding years of active support for the Library.
In 2011 the Friends of South Berwick Library did a major revision of the by-laws and created a Board of Directors. The purpose was two-fold: 1) create a larger governing board to ensure continuity and 2) demonstrate formally the commitment of many people to the Friends organization.
